Wow that had to be alot of work... And that makes a lot of sense about the pastel not sticking to the paper. I've had trouble with that before. I will definitely have to try the two pieces of paper! Thank you so much!
This is amazing!!! So you used colored pencils for the highlights? I am working on a drawing of my old black labrador, and I am having trouble getting some of his white hairs drawn in...A friend told me I could use a white or grey pastel pencil...do you know anything about that?
Thanks. I had to draw the entire thing with white pencils (wax colour and pastel/carbothello). To draw white hairs on a normal drawing is very difficult - I've used pastel pencils before for highlights with mixed results - I found it very difficult to get the pastel to stay on the paper and it wasn't very defined. I have also tried using paint and a very fine brush which worked a bit better, but this technique is very unforgiving and not recommended. I personally prefer to lay two pieces of paper over the drawing with a tiny gap between them and then erasing that gap. If you are careful, you get a perfect highlight every time.
